Gateway Middle School is seeking a Literacy Coach and Reading Teacher for the 2012-2013 school year. Gateway Middle is a small, diverse middle school in San Francisco that is committed to helping each student – regardless of learning differences or previous academic achievement – learn the skills, habits and knowledge necessary for success in college and beyond. Our school opened in August 2011 with one hundred sixth grade students. We will be adding one hundred sixth graders in August 2012, growing to full capacity of three hundred 6th-8th graders over the next two years.

We are looking for a strong teacher leader who is committed to equity and to building a strong school-wide culture of teaching literacy across curriculum. We've established a foundation of common literacy practices in our first year and we're looking for a literacy coach who can build on that work as well as work with our teachers to address the needs of our struggling readers and English learners.
